The 2nd Consultation Forum on the implementation of the AI Act in Greece was a great success

On March 26, 2026, the 2nd Consultation Forum on the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act) in Greece took place. The event was organized by the Special Secretariat for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance, in collaboration with Expertise France, as part of the project “Integrating AI Technologies in the Greek Public Administration,” with funding from the European Union. The participation of over 80 representatives from a wide range of organizations highlighted the cross-cutting nature of the Regulation’s implementation and the need for coordinated cross-sectoral cooperation.

The forum is part of the organized effort to shape the national institutional framework for implementing the AI Act, with the goal of full implementation of the Regulation by August 2026. The Special Secretariat leverages structured dialogue with all stakeholders as a tool for developing evidence-based and implementable policies.

The event was attended by representatives of public administration bodies, independent authorities, research institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector. During the first part, the results of the 1st Consultation Forum (July 2025), the EU’s targeted simplification measures for AI (Digital Omnibus on AI) and Greece’s positions on them, the draft law on measures to implement the Regulation, and proposals for the creation of AI regulatory sandboxes in public administration.

In the second part, the Special Secretariat presented the planned Guide for the Utilization of Generative AI in the public sector, the new strategy for Data Governance, and the new National Open Data Portal, as well as the proposal for the AI Governance Framework. The event concluded with remarks from representatives of the participating organizations and a discussion on the next steps.
