The composition of the Board of Directors of PHAROS AI FACTORY has been announced

The Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence and the Superfund announce the composition of the seven-member Board of Directors of the Superfund’s subsidiary “Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Factory S.A. (AE)” with the trade name “PHAROS AI FACTORY”. It is set to serve as the business arm of the national Artificial Intelligence Factory “Pharos,” which will have the new national supercomputer “DAIDALOS” as its computational core. The subsidiary was established with the Superfund as a shareholder, holding a 70% stake, and the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, holding the remaining 30%.

For the Board of Directors of “PHAROS AI FACTORY,” , executives with extensive international and domestic experience and expertise in the fields of technology, Artificial Intelligence, and entrepreneurship were selected to support the company’s operations and strategic direction. The composition of the seven-member Board of Directors is as follows:

  • Thanos Papadimitriou, Chairman
  • Aphrodite Sevasti, Managing Director,
  • Verra Marmalidou, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee
  • Emilios Chalamandaris,
  • Demosthenes Anagnostopoulos, (ex-officio), Secretary General of Information Systems and Digital Governance
  • Vasileios-Michael Karkatzounis, (ex-officio), Special Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance
  • Ioannis Mastrogiorgios, Special Secretary for Long-Term Planning at the Presidency of the Hellenic Government

The Minister of Digital Governance and AI, Dimitris Papastergiou, stated: “The establishment of ‘PHAROS AI FACTORY’ marks a decisive step toward implementing the national strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Greece’s transition to a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. As the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, we have moved swiftly and with a clear plan, securing the necessary European and national resources and moving forward in a coordinated manner to create critical digital infrastructure for the country. With “Pharos,” the new national supercomputer “DAIDALOS” that we are developing—which will serve as the computational backbone of the AI Factory—as well as with the second supercomputer to be installed in Kozani, we are creating a robust national ecosystem of computational capabilities and innovation. Our goal is to bridge the gap between research and the real economy, providing researchers, startups, and Greek companies with the tools to develop AI applications that will enhance the country’s competitiveness and create new growth opportunities.”
